STOP Sign

STOP Sign are used as a part of  GIVE WAY. The only difference is that you MUST COMPLETELY STOP TO GIVE WAY. It means that if there is a danger that your vehicle could collide with another vehicle, person or animal you must SLOW DOWN AND STOP to give way and avoid a collision. You must remain stationary until it is safe to proceed.

How to know it's a STOP sign?

A STOP sign is an OCTANGLE board with STOP written on it. A STOP sign is always represented with a SOLID WHITE line at most give way point. Those lines are called ROAD MARKING.

Why it is MANDATORY to STOP at a STOP SIGN/MARKING?

STOP sign are in place on the road to ENSURE SAFETY of all ROAD USERS such as Vehicles, Pedestrian, Childrens, Road work Earth Moving Equipments and avoiding any Hazard on road.​

Can  I drive out slowly or can I keep ROLLING at a STOP sign/marking?

NO, YOU MUST STOP AT A STOP SIGN

  • It is required by LAW to STOP at a STOP sign for atlest 3 Seconds even if there is no TRAFFIC on the road you are merging on to

  • You can not drive out slowly WITHOUT STOPPING and making vehicle STATIONERY first at a STOP sign/marking

  • You can not KEEP ROLLING at a STOP sign/marking, you MUST STOP COMPLETELY and make vehicle STATIONERY

  • Experienced or a Learner driver, EVERYONE MUST STOP at STOP sign/marking​

Where and Whom I'm required to Give Way at a STOP sign/marking?

  • To Vehicle going straight or turning into at T Intersection 

  • To pedestrian crossing at the road you are turning into at T  Intersection

  • To oncoming an ongoing vehicles before moving across to RIGHT to do a 3 POINTS TURN

  • To oncoming an ongoing vehicles before starting to REVERSE on a REVERSE PARALLE PARK

  • To any vehicle or Pedestrian on the left or right before leaving a PARKING BAY

  • To any vehicle, pedestrian or cyclist before Reversing out of drive way

  • To any vehicle or pedestrian at an UNCONTROLLED Intersection

  • To road work traffic controller flashing STOP sign to control flow of traffic in changed traffic condition.

  • To any EMERGENCY vehicle oncoming or ongoing with SIREN BLARING, LIGHTS FLASHING by pulling over to left or right in emergency lane or on a nature strip

  • To children at Children's Crossing in SCHOOL ZONE when there is no school hours

  • To children at Children's Crossing in SCHOOL ZONE during school hours when crossing supervisor is present and on the crossing with the STOP lolipop on display

Important to Remember

  • Failing to STOP at a STOP SIGN/MARKING and there is no DANGEROUS SITUATION arising and NO ROAD USER HAVE TO TAKE EVASIVE ACTION, you will be awarded a CRITICAL ERROR.

  • Failing to STOP at a STOP SIGN/MARKING and ROAD USER HAVE TO TAKE EVASIVE ACTION, you will be awarded an IMMEDIATE TERMINATION ERROR and your DRIVE TEST will terminate IMMEDIATELY.
